Algebra Final

FINAL ON TUESDAY AT THE COS OFFICE!!!!!!!

It is IN PERSON

It will be ON PAPER

You will have to SHOW ALGEBRA to get credit. Chicken scratch, doing work in your head, guessing, etc… will not get you credit!!!!!

The final will be on units 4, 5, 6, 7, and some of 8.

There will be NO unit 8 test.

You need to pass units 4, 5, 6, and 7 tests with a 70% or better.

Unit 7 Completed, Due June 1st

We started Unit 7 back in the middle of April. We are running low on time to complete the Algebra curriculum.

Unit 8 and Unit 9 will be delivered with selected sections.

You MUST pass all of the tests with a 70% or better to pass the course.  A 65% is set at a C- for the specific reason that you must pass all of your tests.  This gives you a very good chance to pass the class, but you have to demonstrate understanding on all exams.

The final is 40% of your grade, this can really help you a lot! So make sure you study!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pass Unit 4, 5, 6, 7 and a selected Unit 8 and 9 test.

Do you want to pass?

I would like to help anyone who wants to pass to pass.
First step: EMAIL ME (mrskeeler@gmail.com) and tell me you want to, then let’s start a conversation about how we can do that for you.

REMEMBER THE FINAL is 40% of your grade, so you are NEVER SUNK!
The purpose here is for you to learn algebra, I’m here to help you do that!

If you have done very little this semester I would start by…

  • Getting a fresh spiral notebook
  • Going through units 4, 5, 6 and now 7 and taking notes from all the lessons.
  • Do SOME of the assignments, practice a little.
  • Ask for some help on some things.

I always want you to do the daily assignment, usually they are pretty easy and not too mathy, although for the next couple of weeks they will be  mathy.
They are SHORT, 3 questions (although you need to get 100%) to help you to feel better about taking the state test.
Feel free to ask for help! That is what I am here for.
YOU NEED TO DO THESE STATE STANDARD DAILY ASSIGNMENTS PLEASE!

So email me, let’s keep talking back and forth.
Do SOMETHING everyday, even if it is just the daily assignment, although I’d like it if you did a little more than that :)
Work on catching up… try to make sure you’re LEARNING something so you can pass the final!

GOOD LUCK!
Hope to hear from you!
Mrs. Keeler

Unit 6, Unit 7 and the State Test

We will be taking the state test in late April.  Our daily warm ups will be helping you to be ready for that test.  Please do one a day.  They each have directions and are short, but you’ll feel a lot more comfortable when you go to take the test.

Remember this about the state test: The state has the schools give the test when we are 75% of the way through the school year, so they only expect that you would know 75% of the questions.  On top of that, clearly you would not be expected to know everything, so if you knew 70-80% OF the 75%

70% of 75% = 52.5%  So you would be doing well if you look at the test and think that you do not know how to do half of it!  So no stress.  Try your best on all questions and do not leave any blank!!!

We are finishing up Unit 6.  You should be done by the week after Spring Break.

Your first due dates for Unit 7 are Monday April 12th, so even if you are behind make sure you start on Unit 7 and keep up with those due dates so you can be sure to earn credit.  Late work is marked down and there is NO GUARANTEE I will grade the late work, so always do the on time work FIRST and then make up late work second.

Spring Break – What can I do

GET CAUGHT UP!!!!!!

If you have not passed unit 4 or 5 test please work on that over spring break.
You should be done with 6.07 over spring break, so if you’re not caught up… get there!!!!!!!!!!

MOVING… UNIT 6 in Semester 2

Unit 6 is in ALGEBRA Semester 2, as of Monday all of the Daily Activities will be there.

LESSONS – Read this please

I notice that (a) many of you are not doing the lessons and (b) some of you are not completing the lessons. To get credit you MUST click the “END LESSON” button on the table of contents.

TAKE NOTES!!!!!!!
NEAT ONES!
ORGANIZED! (spiral notebook! In order by date!)
Hint: Show your parents your algebra notes everyday and ask if they can make sense of what you wrote…. if they can not, you need to work on taking better notes.

Sometimes do the lesson MORE THAN ONCE
This is how you learn how to do the material. Expect to be lost if you do not do the lessons and do a good job of going through them carefully.

Graph Paper and Graphing

If you look at the top of Module 5 I added a link so you can download graph paper.

http://ohsmoodle.cusd.com/mod/resource/view.php?id=6772

You have to be able to show me that you can graph a line.

For some unit 5 assignments you will need to be able to draw lines in powerpoint and upload your presentation to google docs.  Please post in the unit forum if you’re having trouble with that.

Steps for making a powerpoint and using geogebra

  1. if you haven’t already go to www.geogebra.org and download the program
  2. Open Geogebra
  3. View->Grid
  4. You can click on the plus sign arrow button to move the grid around if you want.
  5. Click on the button that has a dot and an A.  You can place dots all over the workspace.   Plot your points
  6. Next to that button is a button to draw lines.  Just click on one dots then click on a 2nd dot and the line is automatically drawn for you.
  7. Take a screenshot
PC: you hold down the alt key and hit the print screen (prtsc) button.
Mac: hold down the command and the shift and the 4 key.
  8. Open up Powerpoint
  9. Make a title screen with your name and what the assignment is.
  10. Make a new screen PASTE (ctrl V) if you’re using a PC
Insert the screenshot you made if you’re a MAC.
  11. Make text boxes to put down what the equation was you graphed and any other information you need to share.
  12. Create a new page in PowerPoint so you can put your next one in.
  13. Go back to Geogebra and make another line (either start a new geogebra file, which is what I do, or delete the old dots and lines)
  14. Repeat the screenshot deal into PowerPoint until you have all your graphs.
  15. Save your PowerPoint as FirstLastAssignmentTitle
    Example: AliceKeeler5.04agraphing
  16. UPLOAD YOUR PowerPoint to google docs.
  17. In the upper right hand corner it says “share”
  18. Get the link to share
Consider checking the let them edit check box.  Then I can help you if you give me the rights to edit.
  19. Copy and paste that URL into Moodle as a live link so I can view your project.

TAKE UNIT 4 TEST NOW

Unit 4 test is due! You will be allowed to retake, but you need to start taking the test NOW and even if you have to take it 20 times, keep practicing and retaking.  Ask for help, you’ll get there!
